Fennia Prize, founded by the national design promotion organization Design Forum Finland, is Finland's most eminent design competition where a company or organization can be awarded for exemplary use of design as part of its business operations. Registration for the competition opens on Mon 16 May and the results will be published in February 2017.
Today's Finland requires tools for growth and success. One of the current means is the versatile and wide-ranging use of design knowledge, both in business activities of companies as well as in developing public services. The Fennia Prize design competition aims to encourage the use of design in businesses and society, in order to enhance growth, competitiveness and internationalization. Comprehensive and customer-oriented design is a way to stand out in the market, and is of economic significance, too.
The Fennia Prize design competition has been arranged since 2003. The results of the competition have been a cross-section of the most interesting and timely design in Finland – from harvesters to activity trackers and from smoke alarms to a communal library concept.
The Fennia Prizes, in total €35,000, come from the Fennia Group and Elo. The Finnish Patent and Registration Office will award its IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) Excellence prize of €5,000. In addition, Honourable Mentions will also be awarded. Besides the design competition, there will also be a touring exhibition presenting the awarded companies and products, an exhibition catalogue and an expert seminar. Fennia Prize 2017 is part of the program of the centenary of Finland's independence in 2017.
The registration period of the competition is 16 May–5 September, 2016.
The competition is organized by Design Forum Finland, Fennia Group, Elo and the Finnish Patent and Registration Office.
