Budapest Design Week, the most important annual event for the Hungarian creative industries, is to be organised for the 14th time in 2017.
Budapest Design Week primarily aims to raise awareness about the value, and economic and social role of design, to improve trust in design and encourage communication between various actors in this field.
This series of events, which offers content for the public and professionals, takes place from 6 to 15 October this year. Early-stage talents, small and medium-sized enterprises in design will be in focus.
The programs, organised around the slogan ‘START’, will focus on various topics such as business development, exhibitions displaying the works of young designers, lectures and workshops for career beginners, and startup businesses. By relying on economic, business and communication skills and the Start Up Guide of the Hungarian Design Council, the very popular ‘Find an investor’ programme, which has been running for three years will now also offer introductory presentations from businesses in design that successfully found investors, after which designers and investors will be able to meet face to face.
The programs also cover topics including a re-start, a career change and a fresh start. Traditional design tours and open studios focus on start-ups, the presentation of starting businesses in design, their offices, workshops, etc.
The events are patronised and sponsored by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, and professionally managed and supervised by the Hungarian Design Council.
