Red Dot awards, 3 July 2017 A baby-changing system and a building façade system have won this year’s Red Dot ‘best of the best’ award.

For more than 60 years, the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen has been awarding excellent product design. Ever since that date, the sought-after award “Red Dot” has been the renowned international seal of outstanding design quality. Every year, manufacturers and designers can submit their products in several categories – from fashion and accessories to consumer electronics, vehicles, furniture and urban design. In February, the 39-member jury evaluated the products entered in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 and awarded the “Red Dot” quality seal for good design.

In the category “Urban Design”, two products - the baby changing station “Björk” and the facade system “Schüco FWS 60 CV HD with TipTronic” - received the highest distinction “Red Dot: Best of the Best”. Both products convinced the jury with their elegance, their simplicity and their easy and comfortable handling. With its extremely thin profiles and struts, the facade system designed by Schüco International embodies a new, outstandingly elegant solution. Boasting sophisticated functionality, it blends in perfectly into any given architecture. The safe and easy way of opening and closing the windows is particularly impressive. The resulting comfort is a genuine user experience. Just as the facade system, the baby changing station by DAN DRYER, designed by VE2, catches the eye with its elegant appearance. In line with traditional Danish design, the innovative, slim shape embodies a perfect reduction to the essential. In use, it impresses with its extremely high quality and well-thought-out functionality. The “Björk” baby changing station meets the highest demands, offering a great deal of comfort for both infants and parents.

During the Red Dot Gala in Essen’s Aalto-Theater, the designers and manufacturers of these two products, as well as the other laureates of the top award, will receive the Red Dot Trophy in front of roughly 1,200 international guests. The award ceremony of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 will take place on Monday, 3 July 2017. At the subsequent Designers’ Night, the winners will celebrate together in the Red Dot Design Museum, where the exhibition of all winning products “Design on Stage” will be launched at the same time. It will be on show until 6 August 2017.
