In this case, it is necessary to ensure that the rights of students and young professionals to their intellectual property are protected. If the host is unable to fulfill all the necessary criteria, iF will refuse to take over the organization of the event.
A very good, positive example of an award that completely fulfills these criteria is the BODYFRIEND DESIGN PRIZE by iF, which was held very successfully for the first time this year.
The Bodyfriend Company, which was formed in Seoul in 2007, is a specialist in wellness and health products. Their competition for young design talent, the BODYFRIEND DESIGN PRIZE 2016 by iF, put out a call for innovative product ideas in keeping with the motto of “Health Innovations: Open your inspiration” – with the intention of making the two best concepts into the actual product. All in all, the company made a total of US$ 100,000 available in prize money.
Of the total 615 entries from 34 countries from around the world admitted to the competition, seven concepts were chosen to receive the award. The competition winners were rewarded for all their efforts in Seoul on 6 June with the following prize monies:
The First-Place entry from the Republic of Korea receives US$ 55,000 (US$ 35,000 in prize money + US$ 20,000 to cover intellectual property rights)
